Day 5 saw matches completed in warm and blustery conditions at the City of Onkaparinga Tennis Challenger 2017.

The highest remaining seed in the singles draw, [3] Denis Kudla (USA) defeated Kimmer Coppejans (BEL) in straight sets, 6-2 6-3, meanwhile [6] Darian King (BAR) defeated Luke Saville (SA) in the longest match of the day, 4-6 7-6(6) 6-2. In other matches, Peter Gojowczyk (GER) defeated Michael Mmoh (USA) 6-2 6-3 and Ruben Bemelmans (BEL) overcame Yasutaka Uchiyama (JPN) 6-3 6-0.

In the doubles, top seeds Hans Podlipnik-Castillo (CHI) and Max Schnur (USA) have made their way to the semi-finals with a win over Marinko Matosevic (Vic) and Bradley Mousley (SA) 6-3 7-6(8).

The off court highlight of the day was the discovery of a koala within the Happy Valley Sports Park, delighting players and staff alike.

Day 6 will see South Australia’s Alex Bolt continue his comeback, aiming for a win on his 24th birthday against Victoria’s Omar Jasika in the first match on Court 6.
