Sonya Jensen’s work with Normanville Tennis Club, especially the juniors, earned her Citizen of the Year.

She has been the junior coordinator for about 15 years. When she started the role, there was only one junior team; now there is nine.

Up to 50 kids from around the district can be seen at trainings during the summer season.

Ms Jensen coaches two nights a week, although her own kids stopped playing three years ago. She set up a Tennis Hotshots program at the club, and has pushed to get coaches trained and accredited.

It is her strength, encouragement and commitment which has seen the club be so successful, and she works hard for the community, especially local children.
