Australian teenagers Destanee Aiava and Sara Tomic have both moved through to the second round of the Honeycomb.Design Clare Valley Tennis International. Eighth seeded Aiava progressed after a tough two set match against Brit Katy Dunne winning 6-3 7-5 in around 90 minutes.

Tomic also had to battle hard when she played wildcard Gabriella Da Silva Fick on Centre Court. After winning the first set 6-4 the second set was a super tight contest with Tomic eventually taking the match 6-4 7-6 (4).

In an all Aussie battle, Storm Sanders came out ahead of qualifier Abbie Myers in impressive fashion, winning the match 6-3 6-4. Alison Bai made it four Australians into the last 16 with a strong 6-3 6-3 win over Brit Gabriella Taylor.

Second seed Eri Hozumi from Japan and seventh seeded Czech Vikotrija Kozmova also had impressive wins to move them into the second round.

Today’s feature matches will see Brazillian number one seed Beatriz Haddad-Maia take on Sara Tomic first up on Centre Court while Storm Sanders will take on Viktorija Kozmova and Destinee Aiava will be up against Japans Haruka Kaji.

The Honeycomb.Design Clare Valley Tennis International is part of the Australian Pro Tour, a series of professional tennis events that bridge junior events and the ATP/WTA Tour, providing an opportunity for players to earn their first world ranking points.
