Berri, SA is set to play host to the 12/u and 14/u Australian Grasscourt Championships for the first time next week.

Tennis SA and Tennis Australia, in conjunction with Berri-View Lawn Tennis Club, will host the championships from Saturday 8 April to Thursday 13 April 2017.

The tournament is one of only three national junior championship events in Australia and gives the top 32 players in each age group from around Australia the opportunity to play for the national title and valuable Australian ranking points.

Home to two current national champions in Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz (Glengowrie, SA) and Edward Vo (Croydon Park, SA), South Australia will be looking to once again field an impressive list of participants in the event.

“Tennis SA is delighted to have once again been selected as the host state for the 12-and-under and 14-and-under Australian Grasscourt Championships,” said Steve Baldas, Tennis SA CEO.

“This event marks the second time South Australia has held an event of this kind and we look forward to some great tennis next week.”

“Tennis Australia is pleased to be bringing the Australian Grasscourt Championships to South Australia,” added Francis Soyer, Tennis Australia Tournaments Development Manager.

“The tournament provides a fantastic opportunity for locals to watch some of Australia’s up-and-coming junior players and we wish all players the best of luck.”
