The top seeds have made it through with relative ease on Day 1 of the 2017 12/u and 14/u Australian Grasscourt Championships being held at the Berri-View Lawn Tennis Club. In the 12s, [1] Hana Sonton (QLD) defeated Elena Micic (Vic) in a tight match 5-7 6-3 6-4, whilst [1] Jeremy Jin (NSW) took a comprehensive win over Callum Stringfellow (QLD) 6-0 6-3. In the 14s, [1] Tina Smith (QLD) overcame Ellie Mastos (Vic) 6-0 6-2 and [1] Chen Dong (QLD) defeated Luke Vuletic (Vic) 6-2 6-4.

In South Australian results, reigning National Champion, Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz moved through to the second round with a straight sets victory. In the matches of the day, Alana Repanich defeated fourth seeded Victorian Joy Andreou 6-4 5-7 6-3 and Callum Gale defeated seventh seeded Queenslander Casey Hoole 2-6 6-4 7-6(3). Fellow South Aussies, Meeka Marshall, Andrea Kristo, Elim Yan, Doni Gashi, Edward Winter, Cydney Crumbie, Maggie Pearce, Rita Zhiltsova and Alex Carroll have all progressed to the second round in front of a home crowd.

Day 2 will see second round singles matches completed, along with the beginning of the consolation, with matches starting at 9.30 am.
