Ron Russo has had a very big year of Tennis in South Australia and all his hard work is about to be rewarded in a very special way.

Russo was appointed Chairman of 2017 Tennis Seniors Australian Championships in 2015. In this role he had overall responsibility for the organization and conduct of this major event. The Championships were played in January 2017, and the event was widely regarded as outstandingly successful.

Off the back of the his efforts running the Tennis Seniors Championships (amongst many others in tennis!), Russo was awarded Tennis S’s Most Outstanding 35yrs+ Tennis Senior in May 2017. Following this result, Russo’s wonderful contribution to tennis was further applauded by receiving the Lord Mayor’s Sports Volunteer of the Year Award.

Subsequently Russo has been appointed the City of Adelaide’s representative in the Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay on 18 February 2018.
