Tennis SA has officially launched TennisFest today, with a record number of 20 events and activations on the schedule, providing a variety of opportunities for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to get involved.
The TennisFest schedule will be made up of thirteen individual and team events, seven activations and the return of the Australian Open trophies.
The addition of new participation events and further integration of diversity and inclusion programs will take centre stage at TennisFest for 2017, further increasing the opportunities for the public to take part.
The festival will start on Friday 17 November with the social tennis event, Sets in the City.
Expected to attract 100 participants, Sets in the City has been designed to encourage new and lapsed players to the sport with a fun and exciting atmosphere.
Special Olympics South Australia will join TennisFest for the first time, with a Special Olympics Tennis Day on Friday 17 November, along with increased involvement in the South Australian Championships for Players with an Intellectual Disability tournament taking place at Next Generation Memorial Drive on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 November.
ANZ Tennis Hot Shots participants from across the state are being encouraged to participate in the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Carnival, an opportunity to test out the brand-new purpose built ANZ Tennis Hot Shots mini courts at the Playford City Tennis Centre on Sunday 19 November.
Multicultural Programs from the Playford City Tennis Centre, along with the Chinese community will also join the TennisFest celebrations on Sunday 19 November, along with the players involved in the TennisFest Wheelchair Showcase.
