In a major coup for the Riverland region, Renmark Tennis Club, in conjunction with the Riverland Tennis Association, Tennis SA and Tennis Australia will host South Australia’s latest edition to the Australian Pro Tour calendar from Saturday 24 February to Sunday 4 March 2018.
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) Futures-level men’s event looks set to attract a strong field of Australian and international players to compete for USD$25,000 in prize money.
The event is expected to attract players ranked inside the top 200 in the world and will feature a number of players who will be competing in the Australian Open in January.
Riverland Tennis Association President, John Pick, was thrilled to make the announcement.
“We’re very excited to see an event of this level being held in the Riverland.
“These events provide a great opportunity for locals to see world class tennis in their region. The Australian Pro Tour has seen some great Australian and International players competing, with Thanasi Kokkinakis and Nick Kyrgios amongst the most recent.”
“Tennis SA is excited to welcome the USD$25,000 ITF Futures-level event to South Australia’s summer of tennis,” said Tennis SA CEO Steven Baldas.
“The ability to host an event of this level is testament to the club and their commitment to deliver an international event as well as the high standard of the natural grass surface of the courts.”
The field for the tournament will be announced early next year.
