Riverland’s 24-year-old Luke Saville (Cobdogla, SA) is set to headline the Renmark Paringa Men’s Tennis International field when play gets underway at the Renmark Tintra Lawn Tennis Club in Renmark, South Australia from 24 February to 4 March 2018.
The draw will also feature South Australia’s world No.313 Bradley Mousley (Wynn Vale, SA), alongside world No.281 Dayne Kelly (Vic) and world No.301 Marc Polmans (Vic) who will join the strong Australian field with seven players from inside the world’s top 500.
Mousley will be looking to continue his excellent form of late, having reached the final of the USD$75,000 Launceston ATP Challenger last week, a performance that has seen him reach a career high singles ranking of 263.
Polmans, who reached a career high singles ranking of 175 in mid-2017, comes in to the tournament following victory over Mousley in the Launceston final, along with round of 16 appearances at the Playford and Burnie ATP Challengers earlier this year.
Australian No.16, Kelly is expected to be named the top seed for the tournament. Sitting just shy of his career high singles ranking of 252, Kelly won three ITF Futures titles in 2017 and reached the quarterfinals in Launceston last week, losing to eventual champion Polmans.
The direct acceptance list will be joined by wildcards and qualifiers, when action begins Saturday 24 February.
Entry to the venue is free throughout the week, with many opportunities for the public to get involved in the action. An ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Schools Carnival will be held alongside the tournament on Friday 2 March. Finals Day on Sunday 4 March will kick off with Kids Day activities, with the singles final to follow.
“We are obviously thrilled to announce a strong field of players planning to compete at the Renmark Paringa Men’s Tennis International,” Tournament Director Ty Allen said.
“We are now looking ahead to the tournament’s official draw in just over a week’s time and encourage the local community to get involved in the tournament over the coming weeks,” Allen added.
“It is very exciting to be able to release the tournament’s acceptance list as we look forward to the return of professional tennis to the Riverland,” said Tennis SA CEO Steven Baldas.
“The countdown to the event is on with the tournament team making their final preparations for the tournament starting on 24 February,” Baldas added.
