Local boy Luke Saville (SA) made an impressive start to his campaign here at the 2018 Renmark Paringa Council Men’s Tennis International with a comprehensive 6-1 6-1 win over Jake Delaney (NSW) in front of a strong crowd of local supporters. Saville served strongly and moved well to put himself right up there as one of the favourites this week in Renmark.
Young gun Lucas Vuradin (Vic) created the upset of the day when he won a titanic battle with Queenslander Gavin Van Pepperzeel 6-7 7-6 6-3 while Victorian left hander Omar Jasika (Vic) proved a difficult match up for Matthew Barton (NSW). Jasika was quick across the courts and was striking his forehand with power and precision as he took away a 6-3 6-3 win.
Tomorrow will see Luke Saville (SA) take on James Frawley (ACT) whilst Port Lincoln’s Darren Polkinghorne (SA) will be up against Victorian Omar Jasika (Vic), with matches starting at 10.00 am.
Also, Harry and Edward Bourchier (Tas) will test their brotherly love when they have to play each other in one of the first matches of the day before they pair up later in the afternoon to play a doubles semi final.
