Collingrove have made it through to the Men’s State League Grand Final after overcoming Tea Tree Gully, three rubbers to one. Collingrove’s number one Olley Douglas won the crucial top singles rubber over fellow young gun Tyson Devine in straight sets to set his team up for the win. Singles win’s to Collingrove’s Captain Matt Teivans and Sam Holland-Smith also played a major part in the victory.

Collingrove will now take on Trinity Titans in what shapes to be a mouthwatering affair. Trinity Titans number one Li Tu has been instrumental in his team’s success so far and will need to continue his fine season when he takes on Olley Douglas this Sunday.

The potential showdown between Trinity Veteran Andrew Tavella and spiritual leader Matt Teivans will provide an exciting match up while in form Collingrove Sam Holland-Smith will have to be at his best ahead of an expected match up with Charlie Nicholas.

In the ladies competition, Goodwood took on Seaside in the battle of the young guns. Seaside number one Selina Turulja was impressive in her win over promising young gun Tayla Whitehouse with a straight sets win.

Following Turulja’s win Goodwood bit back with Natasha Russell defeating Tahlia van der Eerden in an epic three set battle and Leonora Radocaj winning in straight sets. Sacha Rankin then stepped up for Seaside knocking off Erica Williams in straight sets.

With rubbers split at two a piece after singles it came down to the doubles where Goodwood’s pairings of Whitehouse and Russell at one and Radocaj and Williams at two played as if there was only one outcome and that was to move themselves into the big dance which they secured after Goodwood’s top pairing took a straight set victory and second pairing claiming the first set to put them in an unbeatable position.

Goodwood will now take on State League Powerhouse, The Drive. The Drive are led by experienced pairing Melanie Clayton and Melissa Beadman at one and two singles position. Youngster Alana Repanich, Lucy Steinberner and Michelle Leyden also provide valuable depth to the The Drive line up.

Goodwood’s Tayla Whitehouse and Natasha Russell are in top form while youngsters Leonora Radocaj and Erica Williams are hungry for an upset against the more experienced Drive team.

All are welcome to attend and spectate the Finals which will be held at Memorial Drive Tennis Centre on Sunday 25 March at 12:00pm.
