Report and photos provided by SA Team Coach, Sam Wall.
This years Pizzey Cup which was held 28 April – 6 May in Brisbane, in perfect conditions was again a great learning experience for those players involved.
Team SA which finished 5th in this years competition was presented with a challenging draw in which we played eventual winners NSW,QLD,WA and Vic in our first four matches of the week.
Although outclassed by these teams by at times bigger, stronger and more experienced players the team played some impressive tennis with some great individual performances against these teams.
This effort and consistent performance by the team was maintained for the matches against ACT and TAS and lead to convincing wins against these teams to finish the week off strongly.
This years team was lead by captains Heidi Evans and Dale Nixon.
South Australia will host next years Pizzey Cup.
