The Lutheran Tennis Club is in safe hands in the Rural City of Murray Bridge, as local volunteers continue to lead the charge as part of the region’s Murraylands Starclub development program.
Recently, the Lutheran Tennis Club has been awarded Recognised Starclub Status. This is highest level of governance in the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing’s Starclub program.
The award-winning Murraylands Starclub program is a partnership between local Councils and the Office for Recreation and Sport. It focuses on growing and sustaining strong sport and recreation clubs, where quality coaches and officials work alongside valued volunteers in a safe and welcoming environment.
Significant work by Vice President Lou Boughen and President Ernie Ahrens has proven invaluable with club being a destination club that is welcoming, vibrant and safe for all.
Murraylands Starclub Field Officer Marc Maddaford said he had been impressed with the commitment of the Lutheran Tennis Club work towards Starclub status, and their efforts could be used as a positive case study for other regional clubs across the State.
“The club has made vast improvements in recent years to upgrade their governance, financial processes, accessibility, child safety frameworks and other aspects of administration,” Mr Maddaford said.
“In particular, the Lutheran Tennis Club has taken great steps to ensure it supports coaches and volunteers with training opportunities, providing a strong foundation for future growth.
The club’s also has attracted the “Book a Court” system with the help of Tennis SA and the Rural City of Murray Bridge which will be in operation soon allowing the community to securely book a court and gain access.
