The State League competition has seen the gap between teams on the premiership tables continue to increase but still remains anyone’s season to win the title.

In the Men’s competition Glenlea came to play when they hosted Kingswood at their home courts. Glenlea’s Jack Schipanski redeemed himself after losing the second set after winning the first to return fire winning the final set 6-4 against Sean Van Rensburg. This win set the tone for the day with all other matches going in the favour of Glenlea in Straight Sets winning the match six rubbers to love.

Tea Tree Gully came up against a competitive Golden Grove side. Golden Grove’s Nathan Eshmade defeated Tyson Devine in straight sets at number one keeping him in the leading position for the player of the year award. Tea Tree Gully’s Dale Nixon won for his team at number two, while Golden Grove’s Simon Harris gave his team hope but was defeated by Rhys Kelly in three sets. Golden Grove were unable to win both doubles handing Tea Tree Gully the win four rubbers to two.

Trinity Gardens came up against a strong finals contender in The Drive. Trinity Gardens number one Andrew Tavella kicked things off against Stefan Norodom, with Nordom walking away with the chocolates in straight sets, Sebastian Flock then followed his lead winning his match. Trinity Gardens Adam Alessandrini and Oliver Carroll pulled it back winning their respective singles matches pushing the match to the doubles. It was The Drives day with both doubles pairings holding strong winning both in straight sets and handing Trinity Gardens their second loss for the season four rubbers to two.

Broadview who are trying to work their way back into finals played against Collingrove who currently sit in fourth place on the premiership ladder. Broadview’s number one Mislav Bosnjak defeated Oliver Douglas in straight sets. This set the scene when Broadview went to work winning the next three singles rubbers. Broadview’s Martin Richards was the determining factor when he closed it out defeating Doni Gashi 1-6 6-2 6-1 giving Broadview the win five rubbers to one.

In the Women’s Statewide Super competition Seaside travelled to Glenlea. Natasha Russell got Seaside off to a strong start with a straight set win over Erica Williams at top single. Glenlea’s Andrea Kristo got them back in the game with a solid win over Tully Richter while Seaside’s Madison Schwarz got over the line in straight sets against Sarah Mildren. Russell then paired with Maggie Pearce who held off Erica Williams and Kristo in straight sets to hand Seaside the win four rubbers to two.

Kingswood had their third victory against Denman five rubber to one. Kingswood’s Yasmin Glazbrook overcame Denman youngster Heidi Evans at number one single and from there Kingswood continued to stay on top. Denman’s bottom doubles was able to get their team on the board with a good win 6-2 6-3.

The Drive are yet to be defeated as they continued their season in similar fashion when they defeated Pembroke six rubbers to love. The Drive’s Melanie Clayton continues to show why she’s the reigning Player of the Year defeating Jieyi Chen, The Drive didn’t allow Pembroke to walk away with a set.
