This year we welcomed 350 guests to the 2019 World Tennis Challenge Legends’ Lunch on Tuesday 8 January at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
Guests were treated to candid interviews with WTC players, Eugenie Bouchard, Pat Cash, Fernando Verdasco, Borna Coric and Henri Leconte.
The highlight of the event was Mark Soderstom’s interview with Davis Cup legend, Neale Fraser.
The room witnessed some amazing TV footage from the 1986 Davis Cup victory against Sweden, which Fraser had never seen before and his emotional response was quite extraordinary – a memory that he obviously treasures dearly.
We are fortunate to have wonderful sponsors provide us with amazing prizes which helped generate close to $20,000 for the Ken McGregor Fund, and will go a long way in spring-boarding our local talented juniors and tennis players with a disability into the international tennis scene.
Nicki Barnet from the Ken McGregor Fund Committee got the honour of presenting a cheque for $7,000 to Nicholas Bradley, Head Coach of the Somerton Park Blind Tennis Program. As Nick and three of his South Australian blind tennis players have been selected to represent Australia at the 3rd International Blind Tennis Championships in Spain in June.
We are extremely happy with how the event unfolded, especially with the assistance of our amazing MC’s Mark Soderstrom & Nicki Barnet, auctioneer’s Anthony Toop and Bronte Manuel from Toop & Toop, the WTC players and the Adelaide Convention Centre.
