America’s Jennifer Elie is set to headline the Port Pirie Come See Change Tennis International field when play gets underway at the Port Pirie and District Tennis Association in South Australia from 11 to 17 February 2019.
The draw will also feature South Australia’s top female player Amber Marshall (Gulfview Heights, SA), as well as rising stars world No.557 Lulu Sun (SUI) and world No.740 Valentina Ivanov (NZL).
Marshall comes into the tournament after a stellar start to 2019, reaching the second round of the Australian Open girls’ singles. Sun, meanwhile, will be looking to continue her excellent form this Australian summer, which began with a doubles final appearance alongside Marshall at the City of Playford Tennis International in January.
The direct acceptance list will be joined by four wildcards and six qualifiers, when action begins on Monday 11 February.
Entry to the venue is free throughout the week, with many opportunities for the public to get involved in the action. An ANZ Tennis Hot Shots School Tennis Carnival will be held alongside the tournament on Friday 15 February, while families are encouraged to get involved in Finals Day action on Sunday 17 February. Kids Day activities will start from 9.30 am with the singles final to follow at 11.00 am.
“We are obviously thrilled to announce a strong field of players planning to compete at the Port Pirie Come See Change Tennis International starting next Monday,” Tournament Director Darren Sahb said.
“We are now looking forward to the event and encourage the local community to get involved over the next week,” Sahb added.
“It is very exciting to release the acceptance list for the Port Pirie Come See Change Tennis International as we look forward to the return of professional tennis to the region,” Tennis SA CEO Steven Baldas said.
“The countdown to the event is on with the tournament team making their final preparations for the tournament starting on 11 February,” Baldas added.
