Day 2 saw 30 matches completed at the City of Playford Tennis International II.
South Australian 18-year-old Amber Marshall has joined five other Australians in advancing to the singles main draw after defeating top seed Eri Hozumi (JPN) 6-3 7-6(5).
Fifth seed Asia Muhammad (USA) overcame Isabella Bozicevic (Qld) 6-3 6-3 in the first round of the main draw, with seventh seed Ayano Shimizu (JPN) defeating Taylah Lawless (NSW) 6-1 6-4. Hiroko Kuwata (JPN) and Abbie Myers (NSW) also progressed to the second round.
In the men’s, South Australia’s Luke Saville and Alex Bolt made their way through their first matches with straight sets victories. Saville defeated Lucas Gerch 7-6(2) 6-3, while Bolt got the better of Patrik Niklas-Salminen (FIN) 6-3 7-6(3).
Tomorrow will see top seeds Yasutaka Uchiyama (JPN) and Priscilla Hon (AUS) open their Playford campaigns, with matches starting at 10.00 am.
