James Duckworth (NSW) and Storm Sanders (WA) have been crowned the City of Playford Tennis International II Singles Champions, following an outstanding week of tennis action at the Playford Tennis Centre.
Second seed Duckworth defeated the top seed, Japan’s Yasutaka Uchiyama 7-6(2) 6-4 in the men’s singles final, while Sanders overcame third seed Lizette Cabrera (Qld) 6-3 6-4 in the women’s singles final.
In the men’s doubles final, the Finnish pairing of Harri Heliovaara and Patrik Niklas-Salminen defeated crowd favourite top seeds, Ruben Gonzales (PHI) and Evan King (USA) 6-4 6-7(4) [10-7].
On Saturday, top seeds Sanders and Asia Muhammad (USA) claimed the women’s doubles title with a 6-3 6-4 win over third seeds Naiktha Bains (GBR) and Tereza Mihalikova (SVK).
