Well known South Australian financial services executive, Debbie Sterrey is set to join Tennis SA as Chief Executive Officer and Adelaide International General Manager.
Sterrey has held National and executive roles in the financial services industry for over 30 years, including roles at ANZ Bank, ING Group, Adelaide Bank and more recently, as General Manager, Business Development at Statewide Super. Sterrey has also held a number of Board positions, including Tennis SA for the past two years.
A keen tennis player, Sterrey was a state representative in her teenage years before playing in pennant sides for Glenelg and Northern Districts Tennis Associations. Recognising a passion for passing skills on to others, Sterrey also embarked on a 10 year coaching journey with Roselands Tennis Complex and Seacombe Heights Tennis Club.
“We are delighted to be able to appoint a person with Debbie’s impeccable corporate leadership experience and extensive tennis playing and coaching background to the role,” Tennis SA President Kent Thiele said.
“The Tennis SA Board and Tennis Australia formed a joint selection panel who conducted a thorough internal and external recruitment process through Tennis Australia Talent Acquisition and we were very impressed with the quality of candidates.
“It’s an exciting time in South Australian tennis with the Memorial Drive Centre Court redevelopment and roof coming to a completion and the Adelaide International tournament just around the corner.
“We believe Debbie is the right person to lead the next growth phase of tennis in South Australia and take us to another level,” Thiele added.
Ms Sterrey is excited about the opportunity ahead.
“The upcoming Adelaide International and redeveloped Memorial Drive Centre Court are both great signs of a bright future for tennis in South Australia. I’m excited by the great opportunity which lies ahead to drive participation and involvement in the sport,” Sterrey said.
“I am looking forward to working alongside the Tennis SA team as we head towards a big summer of tennis in South Australia.”
Sterrey will commence the role on Monday 11 November 2019.
