Six South Australian finalists will lead the charge for the state next week, when winners of the 2021 Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards are announced during a gala virtual ceremony on Friday 17 December.

The Australian Tennis Awards will celebrate the achievements of Australia’s tennis community across 13 award categories with tennis clubs, volunteers, officials, coaches, schools and talented junior players all recognised for their outstanding achievements and contributions to tennis throughout 2021.

Domenic Marafiote from East Torrens Kensington Gardens Tennis Club is now a two-time finalist for the Coaching Excellence Club award, while Sam Wall from Coromandel Valley Tennis Club has been announced as a finalist for the Coaching Excellence Development award for the fourth time.

Following an outstanding 12 months, Edward Winter is a finalist for the Junior Athlete of the Year – Male, while Andriana Petrakis has been announced as a finalist for the Most Outstanding Athlete with a Disability.

Cobdogla Primary School will be vying for the Most Outstanding School award and Broadview Tennis Club will look to claim the title of Most Outstanding Club.

Tennis SA CEO Debbie Sterrey is thrilled to announce an outstanding list of South Australian finalists.

“We are so proud of our six South Australian finalists,” Sterrey said.

“These finalists contribute to the sport of tennis in South Australia in a variety of different ways. Their passion, determination and enthusiasm is to be commended and this announcement is thoroughly well deserved.

“We wish our finalists the best of luck and we cannot wait to proudly cheer them on next Friday.”
