Nearly 30 current and past officials joined by Tennis SA staff and West Lakes Tennis Club members at the postponed Officials Christmas function held at Club West Lakes on Thursday 3 March.
All in attendance enjoyed dinner and drinks in the Jubilee Room with several people also trying their luck on the Club’s bowling green.
Tennis SA CEO Debbie Sterrey thanked the officials for their outstanding contributions to the success of the Adelaide International, and for their work at grassroots and community level.
The night culminated in several officials receiving recognition, with past officiating stalwarts including Angus Thomson, Jenny Anspach, Jan Walczak and Brian Arnold in attendance.
Tennis Australia Service Awards were presented to:

- Geof Palmer (40)
- Grant Rice (15)
- Jim Goode (15)
- Casey Jackson (10)
- Jackie Anspach (10)
- Steve Vink (10)
- Dennis Haupt (10)
Ann Langman (20 years) and Marija Lentic (10) received their Service Awards last year while Stephen Bennetts, David Gobbett and Steven Rech will receive their 10 year Service Awards later this year.
Jim Goode was announced as the Most Valued Official by his peers who voted on the night, while Casey Jackson and Robyn Tucker were recognised for their recent international achievements in Chair Umpiring and Refereeing.
Lastly, Adelaide International Assistant Chief Umpire Geof Palmer spoke of the privilege to be involved in this year’s Adelaide International and the enjoyment of working with such a great group of people over the 40 plus years that he has officiated.
