With sadness, the South Australian Tennis family is mourning the loss of Lindsay Cox on Thursday 21 April 2022, at the age of 81.
Lindsay was one of the first Australian tennis umpires to officiate internationally, travelling to Davis Cup events around the world from the early 1980s. Lindsay also officiated at the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988 and umpired at 34 Australian Opens.
Locally, Lindsay officiated at Memorial Drive for more than 50 years, including Chair Umpiring throughout the 1980s and 1990s. He also officiated at Pro Tour events around the state for many years.
He was the Sports Master at Sacred Heart Middle School and spent some time as a professional tennis coach.
Lindsay joined Tennis Officials Australia in 1967, received a 50 year service award in 2017 and was a Life Member of the Tennis Officials Australia – SA division.
Please join us as we offer our sincere condolences to Lindsay’s wife Dee, children Simon, Timothy and Benjamin, and their families.
Lindsay will be sadly missed, but always remembered.
