A highly successful Twilight Session has brought Day 6 at the City of Playford Tennis International to a close.
Twenty-one year old Rinky Hijikata (NSW) surprised defending champion and second seed James Duckworth (NSW) 4-6 6-1 6-2 today, while top seed Jordan Thompson (NSW) was defeated by sixth seed Rio Noguchi (JPN) 6-1 6-4. Hijikata and Noguchi will be joined by Max Purcell (NSW) and Omar Jasika (Vic) in tomorrow’s semifinals.
On the women’s side, top seed Priscilla Hon (Qld) was defeated by seventh seed Lizette Cabrera (Qld) 6-0 6-3, while Maddison Inglis (WA) moved through to the semifinals with a 3-6 7-5 6-1 victory over fifth seed Olivia Gadecki (Qld). Kimberly Birrell (Qld) and Na-Lae Han (KOR) will also take their place in the semifinals.
Tomorrow is singles semifinals and doubles finals day, with matches commencing at 11:00 am.
