More than 44,000 students in South Australia participate in Tennis Hot Shots District School Competitions each year.

The Most Outstanding School award recognises schools who have incorporated tennis as part of the curriculum, providing a pathway to their local club and coach.

The 2023 finalists for Most Outstanding School are:

Linden Park Primary School: Linden Park Primary School has integrated tennis into their school environment and with the help of external coaches, this results in annual participation for around 660 students. The school was crowned Tennis Hot Shots School State Champions for the first time earlier this year.

South Australian School and Services for Vision Impaired: Tennis is integrated in the curriculum at the South Australian School and Services for Vision Impaired (SASSVI) with a well-developed pathway that has seen students go on to compete at a national and international level. Due to the growth in blind sports, the school has recently employed a second Physical Education teacher which will see students from around the state have access to Blind Tennis.

St Columba College: Around 600 primary aged students take part in the tennis curriculum at St Columba College each year. The success of the program has seen students go on to represent the school at District School Carnivals, SAPSASA and SACPSSA level. Plans are now in place for the program to expand to the secondary years once redevelopment works at the school are complete.

Torrens Valley Christian School: Tennis Hot Shots is offered to students from Reception to Year 9 at Torrens Valley Christian School with older students willingly taking the time to help their younger schoolmates learn the game. Pathways with the tennis community are well formed with many students transitioning to coaching and competition at local clubs.

The award winner will be announced at the Tennis SA Gala Dinner to be held at The Drive on Saturday 29 April.
