Tennis SA President Kent Thiele and Tennis SA CEO Debbie Sterrey were joined by the Honourable Peter Malinauskas MP, Premier of South Australia at the Tennis SA Gala Dinner on Saturday evening to officially open the stage two redevelopment of The Drive.
Premier Malinauskas and the South Australian Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing, the Honourable Katrine Hildyard MP, were present to officially open the project that has revitalised The Drive as a vibrant sporting, community and entertainment hub.
From February 2021 to April 2023, the $48 million redevelopment has seen the demolition of the North Stand and the construction of new Northern and Eastern facilities, further cementing The Drive as a world-class facility.
“South Australia has a proud tennis history and The Drive now returns to its former glory, providing state-of-the-art facilities for our next generation of players,” Tennis SA CEO Debbie Sterrey said.
“This is a truly world-class venue and we look forward to welcoming the South Australian public for a variety of tennis, sporting, community and entertainment events in the future.
“The official opening in the presence of the South Australian tennis community was a truly fitting way to celebrate this momentous event in our sport’s history.”
