Matches have come to an end on Day 2 at the City of Playford Tennis International.
South Australia’s Li Tu defeated wildcard recipient Zack Viiala (WA) 7-5 6-2 to progress to the second round of the main draw, where he will be joined by 2022 finalist Rio Noguchi (FRA) after he defeated Arthur Weber (JPN).
In qualifying action, top seed Talia Gibson (WA) has progressed to the main draw and will be joined by fellow Australian, 15-year-old Emerson Jones (Qld) after she defeated third seed Hiroko Kuwata (JPN). On the men’s side, Australians Pavle Marinkov (NSW), Jayden Court (Qld) and Jacob Bradshaw (Qld) have all moved through to the main draw.
Day 3 will see men’s top seed, South Australia’s Thanasi Kokkinakis make his City of Playford Tennis International debut in the third match on Centre Court against qualifier Yusuke Takahashi (JPN). Following his doubles victory in Tokyo last week, Rinky Hijikata (NSW) will make his return to Playford in a doubles match alongside Mac Kiger (USA) in the third match on Court 2.
Third seed Astra Sharma will headline the women’s main draw tomorrow, beginning her campaign against Kyoka Okamura (JPN) in the first match on Court 8.
Matches will commence at 10:00 am.
