Day 4 matches are complete at the City of Playford Tennis International.
Top seed Kimberly Birrell (Qld) defeated Elysia Bolton (NSW) 6-1 6-2 in just over an hour, whilst Seone Mendez (NSW) overcame the second seed Sujeong Jang (KOR) 6-4 6-3. Fellow Australians Priscilla Hon (Qld), Jaimee Fourlis (Vic), Maddison Inglis (WA) and Alana Parnaby (Vic) have joined them in the second round.
2020 champion James Duckworth (NSW) progressed with a 6-4 7-6(2) victory over Kaichi Uchida (JPN), whilst defending champion and second seed Rinky Hijikata (NSW) defeated qualifier JiSung Nam (KOR) 6-4 7-6(4).
Day 5 will see Hijikata open Centre Court, with Duckworth and Thanasi Kokkinakis (SA) to follow for their second round matches. On the women’s side, Birrell will kick off proceedings on Court 8 against Talia Gibson (WA). Later in the day, 15-year-old rising star Emerson Jones (Qld) will be hoping to take her winning streak to 16 matches when she takes on Mendez in the third match on Court 8.
