The globally renowned Rafa Nadal Tour has completed its South Australian stop at The Drive last week.

The Rafa Nadal Tour is a junior tennis circuit launched in Spain in 2014. Running in Australia since 2019, it has a strong focus on sport and education combining the event aspect with dynamic and fun educational activities (classroom and physical). The Rafa Nadal Academy aims to share with the players their rationale and to establish strong fundamental values, which involves teaching and working towards the four main pillars of the tour.

HUMILITY: Humility is the capacity to live your life with freedom from pride or arrogance, the quality or state of being humble.
RESILIENCE: Resilience is the ability to recover quickly from difficulties; to show toughness in adversity
SPORTSMANSHIP: The appropriate and correct behaviour during the practice of any sport, as well as the acceptance of adverse situations willingly.
COMMITMENT: The capacity that players have to acknowledge, get involved and accomplish something that has been previously agreed to.

Junior players Ayumi Ito and Zayn Cameron won the 12/u titles, while Isabella Welsh and Nikola Markulin won the 14/u titles at the tournament.

The winning players, as well as the Trophy of Values winners progress to the end of season Rafa Nadal Masters event. The Trophy of Values recognises a player from each event that shows a positive attitude and behaviour on and off the court, and who lives the Values of the Rafa Nadal Tour.

“We are pleased to congratulate our winners of the Rafa Nadal Tour in South Australia,” Tennis SA Tournament Director Jacinta O’Loughlin said.

“We also congratulate our Trophies of Values winners, along with all players, for a wonderful week of tennis.”

“The Rafa Nadal Tour focuses on sport and education, based around the four values of humility, resilience, sportsmanship and commitment,” Rafa Nadal Tour Australia Manager David Boyes said.

“It has been fantastic to see so many players take part in the off-court activities aligned with these values, and to see so many fantastic matches take place here at The Drive.

“Congratulations to our winning players, along with our Trophy of Values winners.”

“Our sincere thanks to all involved for a wonderful week here in South Australia.”
