2022 champion Rinky Hijikata (NSW) and South Australia’s own Thanasi Kokkinakis (SA) will lead the men’s field at the City of Playford Tennis International at the Playford Tennis Centre from Sunday 20 to Sunday 27 October 2024.
Western Australian duo Talia Gibson (WA) and Taylah Preston (WA) will headline the women’s field, along with fellow Aussies Destanee Aiava (Vic), Maddison Inglis (WA) and Priscilla Hon (Qld) who round out the top five seeds for the women’s draw.
Hosted by Tennis SA and Tennis Australia with the City of Playford and TennisGear, the combined men’s ATP Challenger and women’s ITF World Tennis Tour Australian Pro Tour event offers a total prize pool of more than AUD $200,000 along with valuable world ranking points.
Hijikata returns to Playford after winning the title in 2022 and off the back of a stellar 2023 season, seeing him reach the fourth round of the US Open and making his top 100 debut, currently ranked world No.78.
Home grown hero and former Adelaide International Champion Kokkinakis returns for a second consecutive year, fresh off his four-set victory over No.11 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas at the 2024 US Open.
Top seed Gibson is set to enter the women’s draw in great form coming off an impressive three-peat, winning her third consecutive title on the Australian Pro Tour in Cairns this month.
Fellow West Australian Preston has had an epic 2024 making her Grand Slam debut, first WTA 125 final and having claimed her maiden win against a top 50 opponent.
They will be joined by South Australian’s Li Tu (SA), Alex Bolt (SA) and Petra Hule (SA) who will lead the local charge for the 2024 field
