Day 5 has officially concluded at the City of Playford International.

There were plenty of Aussies hitting the court with Australian No.1 seed Rinky Hijikata (NSW) defeating fellow Aussie Dane Sweeny (NSW) 6-4 6-3, while South Aussie Li Tu advanced through to the Quarterfinals defeating Philip Sekulic (Qld) 6-4 6-2.

Yuta Shimizu (JPN) defeated Lucky Loser Yuki Mochizuki (JPN) to advance through to the Quarterfinals and joining him is No.7 seed Omar Jasika (Vic) after his win 6-3 6-3 against Christian Langmo (USA).

The women’s draw saw an epic line up with four Aussies in action to kick off the morning, Western Australian No.2 seed Taylah Preston was victorious against Naho Sato (JPN) 6-1 6-2, and fellow Western Australian No.1 seed Talia Gibson defeated Elena Micic (Vic) 6-2 6-4.  Meanwhile South Australia’s Petra Hule advances through to the Quarterfinals after defeating Victoria’s Belle Thompson 6-4 6-1.

No.3 seed Maddison Inglis (WA) will be joining in the Quarterfinals action after defeating Erika Sema (JPN) in straight sets. In similar events, No.4 seed Destanee Aiava was also successful in a straight set victory over Alexandra Bozovic (AUS); while No.5 seed Himeno Sakatsume (JPN) advanced through to the Quarterfinals following her 6-0 7-5 win over Mia Horvit (USA).

Double’s action saw a thrilling win for Aussies Calum Puttergill and Dane Sweeny as they claimed victory in a tiebreaker 6-4 6[4]-7 [16-14]. Aussie duo Blake Ellis and Thomas Fancutt, Japan’s Seita Watanabe and Takeru Yuzuki, and Aussie brothers Jake Delaney and Jesse Delaney also came out on top in their matches. In the women’s doubles, Aussies Lizette Cabrera (Qld) and Taylah Preston (WA), Alexandra Bozovic (NSW) and Petra Hule (SA) have all progressed through to the semifinals. Joining them are Japan’s Yuki Naito and Naho Sato, and Sakura Hosogi and Natsumi Kawaguchi.
