Things were heating up on Day 6 of the City of Playford Tennis International as we inch further to the end of the tournament.

The morning kicked off with a win from No.1 seed Rinky Hijikata (Nsw) after he fought back to claim victory in just under 3 hours over No.7 seed Omar Jasika (Vic), 5-7 7-6[4] 6-3.

It was a day of upsets as Aussie No.8 seed Marc Polmans (Vic) defeated No.3 seed Shintaro Mochizuki in a three-set battle 2-6 6-4 6-4, securing his spot in the semifinals. In similar events, Japan’s Yuta Shimizu knocked out No.6 seed and South Aussie Li Tu, while Masamichi Imamura (JPN) claimed victory over No.4 seed Tristain Schoolkate (WA).

In the women’s singles, Aussies dominated with the top three seeds hailing from Western Australia, Talia Gibson (No.1 seed), Taylah Preston (No.2 seed), and Maddison Inglis (No.3 seed) all making it through to the semifinals. Joining them is No.5 seed Himeno Sakatsume (JPN) after she defeated No.4 seed Destanee Aiava (Vic) in straight sets 6-3 6-3.

In doubles Aussie Duo and No. 2 seed Blake Ellis and Thomas Fancutt will take on Aussie brothers Jake Delaney and Jesse Delaney in tomorrow’s final starting at 11:00am. In the women’s draw Alexandra Bozovic and Petra Hule will battle it out against fellow Aussies Lizette Cabrera and Taylah Preston in the final tomorrow.
