In November 2017 we achieved the challenging step of forming the “The SA Player’s Club” – Tennis the Game of a Lifetime. This club consists of South Australian’s who played International, District, Pennant or State League tennis while residing in SA between 1950 and 2011.

Our Inaugural Get Together received a great response of over 200 guests and we are keen to keep the enthusiasm going. If you missed it, here’s the photo gallery from the event.

On Sunday 25 March 2018, about 80 members of the SA Player’s Club met for lunch and got to witness some great tennis by our state’s best players for the State League Grand final. Here’s the photo gallery from the event.

On Sunday 6 January 2019, about 60 SA Player’s Club members meet for afternoon drinks and were treated with a guided tour of the Memorial Drive redevelopment, Henri Leconte was a special guest speaker and presentations were made to three new members of the ‘SA Legends’ Club’, Gwen Thiele, Peter McPherson and Grant Kerr. Here’s the photo gallery from the event.

Upcoming Events

  • January – Drinks during the Adelaide International at Memorial Drive Tennis Centre.
  • March – BBQ Lunch and watch the Statewide Super State League Grand Final, at Memorial Drive Tennis Centre.

Cry for Help!

Tennis SA will continue to expand and refine our database of players who played International, District, Pennant or State League tennis while residing in SA between 1950 and 2011. To be added to the email database, please contact Tennis SA: Ph 08 7224 8100 or email [email protected]

We’ve had some fantastic historic contributions donated by Peter McGrath, Mike Fried, Darren Trigg and my fabulous unnamed scrap book. We would love to receive further offerings – anything – cuttings, photos, magazines etc. As the plan is to set up a museum style exhibition “permanently” at Memorial Drive. Please deliver items to Peter Smith at Next Gen Health & Lifestyle Club, Memorial Drive.
