Competitions

Junior Competition

SFX Junior’s have the opportunity to participate in two competitions.  Saturday mornings in the NEJTA competition and Friday evenings in the DVTA

NEJTA Saturday competition

    • Separate Girls and Boys competitions with mixed comps for the lower sections.
    • Most sections play singles and doubles while the lower beginner sections play just doubles as they are introduced to the game of tennis.
    • All teams are made up of 4 players playing 3 sets per player (8 team total) for most sections and
  • 2 sets per player (4 team total) for the beginners.
  • Matches start at either 8am or 9:30am

DVTA Friday competition

    • This is a mixed, singles competition.
    • So depending on your standard Girls and Boys may play against each other.
  • 2 sets per night per player (8 team total).

Junior tennis is a very social occasion for both players and parents and SFX put on a BBQ each Saturday morning – nothing like a sausage in bread to snack on between sets.

Men’s Night Competition

Tuesday night men compete in the NENTG competition.

    • Teams are made up of 4 players, juniors can also play.
    • There are two competitions to choose from, Open and Veterans for the over 40’s
    • Three sets per player, 6 sets in total per evening and all are doubles,
  • Matches start at 7.00pm.

​Thursday night men compete in the DVTA competition.

    • This is an open competition
    • Teams are made up of 4 players, juniors can also play.
    • Three sets per player, 6 sets in total per evening and all are doubles,
  • Matches start at 7-7.30pm

​Both competitions sit down for a light supper at the end of the evening with the Vets likely to tell a few tales over a bottle of red.

Women’s Night Competition

Wednesday night women’s teams compete in the NENTG.

    • Teams are made up of 4 players, juniors can also play.
    • Six sets per evening and all are doubles,
  • Matches start at 7pm

After all the hard work on the tennis court is done, you can sit back and enjoy a relaxing supper at the end of the night.

Monday Night Mixed Competition

Monday night mixed teams compete in the DVTA.

    • Teams are made up of 2 women and 2 men, juniors can also play.
    • Six sets per evening and all are doubles,
  • Matches start at 7.30pm

​A very popular family competition for husband/wife, mother/son and all combinations in between.

Mid-Week Ladies Competition

Mid-Week ladies competition is played on a Tuesday morning competing in the HDTA.

    • Teams are made up of 5 players.
  • Four sets are played by each player for a total of 10 sets per match

​It’s not unusual for the post match social gathering to go on longer than the tennis itself.

Hot Shots Match Play

Hot Shots Match Play is a fun and social way for kids aged 7-11 to get introduced into team tennis and is played at both Orange Ball and Green Ball level. Kids who become involved in Match Play will learn the basics of game play, as well as scoring in a fun, safe environment with the supervision of Fireball Tennis Academy coaches.

​Match Play teams are made up of both boys and girls and seasons are aligned with the school term and run for six weeks.
