Tasmania’s tennis sensation, Alicia Dale, has clinched her place in the Final of the 2024 Australia Cup, setting the stage for an exhilarating showdown at the Domain Tennis Centre tomorrow, Friday 10 May, 2024 when she goes head-to-head with Juliet Santitto from Queensland.

In a commanding performance, Dale emerged victorious in straight sets, defeating her opponent Amy Findlay 6-1, 6-0 in the Semi Final match today.

“I went out there and just played free and how I normally play – and it’s paid off. I’ve played some of my best tennis this tournament so far and hopefully I can keep that going for tomorrow,” Alicia Dale said.

Dale is the first Tasmanian through to the Australia Cup Girls Final since Catherine Krueger in 2015, and should Dale win the Final tomorrow, Dale will be the first Tasmanian girl to win the trophy since Maree Booth in 1980.

“It feels pretty good; I’m very privileged to be in this position. Catherine was the last person to do it and so I feel really proud to be Tasmanian and playing in the Final at home,” Dale said.

Dale also had two wins in the 2024 Jack Pizzey Cup team event today against the team from the ACT, winning her mixed doubles match with fellow Team Captain, George Anderson (8-1) and her singles match, 6-4, 6-3.

Anderson also won his singles match against ACT (6-3, 6,4) and Balin Russell won his match against ACT (6-2, 6-4).
