Two Tasmanian rising tennis stars were recently invited to Tennis Australia’s inaugural National Talent Development Camp held at the Australian Institute of Sport. Samuel Elliston-Buckley of Launceston and Sanyukta Singh of Hobart were invited to be part of the 32 player training camp that brought together the brightest young tennis talents in Australia.

“The National Talent Development Camp offers a fun and engaging experience for coaches and athletes,” Tennis Australia Development Tennis Manager Scott Draper said. “The camp will help us gain a better understanding of the age group and improve the quality and quantity of tennis players under the age of 12 in Australia.”

The players were able to bring their private coaches along and Launceston coach James Bolzonello accompanied Samuel. Participants underwent physical and skills testing, oncourt match play analysis and technical analysis, along with fun activities including an Amazing Race and a tour of the Australian Institute of Sport.

Sanyukta provided a great insight into the activities of the camp during an interview. Click here to see it.
