The Tasmanian Pizzey Cup team is set to take on the rest of Australia in the prestigious secondary schools competition in Adelaide from May 4th-12th. Players take part in a teams event, which is then followed by an individual component, which has national ranking points on the line.
Leading the charge for Tasmania is boys captain Ross Marzetti and girls captain Gabrielle Carswell. Both players were voted in by their peers through their leadership and guidance qualities. Recent Hobart Finalists Daniel Groom and Matthew Harris, who squared off in the final of the Hobart Junior Championships earlier this week, will provide good support for Marzetti with Elliot Johnstone and Bradley Dunn providing some much needed firepower. In the girls action senior members Vanessa Dobson and Victoria Geale will provide great experience for young guns Erin Fazackerley and Hannah Coombe (recent finalist of Hobart Junior Championships).
The team jets off to Adelaide Saturday morning arriving for the opening ceremony Saturday afternoon. From here its down to business as Tasmania begin proceedings against Australian Capital Territory on Sunday morning.
