To cap off an unforgettable day at the Launceston International, Tasmanian teen sensation Harry Bourchier pulled off the win of his short career to set-up a mouthwatering clash with Korean star Hyeon Chung.

Bourchier and Chung will meet in the quarter finals after both fighting through their opening two contests. Bourchier defeated Japanese 4th seed Hiroki Moriya before then turning the tables in a feisty three set encounter with Brit Brydan Klein. Chung has twice fought from a set down before storming back to defeat Matt Reid and Mitchell Krueger respectively.

Bourchier is building on an already impressive season which begun with qualifying at the Brisbane International and Australian Open. After his singles breakthrough Bourchier partnered seventeen year old Marc Polmans to defeat the top seeded duo of Andrew Whittington and Alex Bolt in a third set tie-break. In a match with numerous ebbs and flows it was the teen pairing showing experience far beyond their years in the upset.

Chung is riding a seven match winning streak after claiming an inaugural Burnie International men’s singles title. With his world class backhand and sublime defensive skills Bourchier will have his hands full against the next big Korean hope.

Bourchier is next in action tonight in the doubles semi-final against veteran combination Adam Hubble and Rubin Statham. Come and support the lone Tasmanian in the world class Launceston International as we get set for quarter finals day here at the Launceston Regional Tennis Centre. We hope to see you there!
