Tasmania’s top-ranked player Harry Bourchier was among the winners at the 2018 Telstra Business Centre Geilston Bay Open.
The 22-year-old Bourchier, currently ranked No.542 in the world, won the men’s singles competition. Recently sidelined with an abdominal injury, Bourchier used the tournament to test his fitness before his return to ITF Futures events in Asia.
Vanessa Dobson won the women’s singles event, Edison Lee won the Rookie Open for younger athletes, and Rae Mitchell teamed with Ange McHugh won win a social 35+ doubles competition.
“The club was buzzing with 62 entries across all events, with great crowds in attendance to watch all events,” tournament director Tony Blom said.

A round-robin mixed doubles competition attracted 18 players, with Alyssa Hibberd and Tom Youl combining to win against Eliane Fader and Ben Barnett in a best-of-two set final using the exciting Fast4 scoring system.
Edward Bourchier won a one ball, one point competition – beating a field of 22 players in the knockout draw.
