A strong contingent of local and interstate junior players braved a range of “Tasmanian” weather conditions across four days of competition for the Tasmanian State Age Championships at the Domain Tennis Centre in Hobart.
A total of 84 competitors took part across 14 events, with age groups ranging from 10/u through to 18/u.
Tournament Director Fairlie Lamond was full of praise for the wider tennis community for their sportsmanship, positive attitudes and support throughout the Championships.
“I’d like to send a massive thanks to all players, officials and parents,” she said.
“You were all so wonderful to work with and it was our absolute pleasure to host everyone during this school holiday event.”

The strength of the draws was evident by the number of seeded interstate players across all divisions, however a number of locals were able to claim individual titles, led by Tasmanian Easter Championships title winners Britta Russell and Alicia Dale.
The 10/u awards were:
Most Outstanding Sportsmanship – Margaret Gatehun
De Minaur Medal Winner – Charlie Marsden
Barty Medal Winner – Ruby Cleary
Millman Medal Winner – Ethan Little
