Do you want to help shape the future of tennis in Tasmania?
Tennis Tasmania is currently calling for nominations to fill two vacant Director positions on its Board.
The Board, comprising six elected and up to three appointed Directors, is responsible for overseeing the governance and strategic direction of Tennis Tasmania.
The Board typically meets six times per year, across Tasmania or remotely via Teams from 4.30pm – 7.30pm on a Wednesday. Board members are expected to attend the annual general meeting (AGM), club and community forums, and the awards function that follows the AGM.
Director positions are voluntary and for three-year terms.
Ideal applicants would have skills in one or more of the following areas:
Event management/hospitality – experience in event execution and hospitality administration.
Tennis – experience in tennis organisation (club and/or coach or school-based experience) and/or experience as a player (e.g. active player or parent of active player/s) who can bring insights to inform decisions relating to the needs of clubs, coaches, and participants.
Governance – experience in governance, an understanding of board governance, and strategic and public policy.
Selection process
Tennis Tasmania’s Board Nominations Committee will oversee the process.

Expressions of interest to fill two elected positions that will expire at this year’s AGM are due to Tennis Tasmania by 11:59pm, 30 June 2023, and emailed to the General Manager (Public Officer), Darren Sturgess ([email protected])

- A one-page summary outlining how you meet the Board Director Statement of Duty (link found below under Further Information);
- Address the criteria (see Positions Available section in vacancy link below), and
- A copy of your CV with at least one referee included.
Interviews may take place with suitable candidates following the EOI process. Candidates with the optimal skills and experience will be considered by the Nominations Committee.
Candidate information will be provided to all members for completion of an election process, if required, by the 2023 AGM.
