Foundation Cup

Bairnsdale Tennis Club played host to Tennis Victoria’s Foundation Cup, the Regional Team Event for 13/u girls over the past two days. The event was won by the Barwon region who played very well to beat Central Highlands convincingly five rubbers to one. Photos of the event are now available on Tennis Victoria’s Facebook page.

The Regional Team Event series moves to Warrnambool Lawn Tennis Club in two weeks time when they host the Ambassadors Cup.

Junior Pennant

The regular season for Tennis Victoria’s 2011 Junior Pennant competition is now officially over for all grades, with matches finishing yesterday. The 2011 season has been a very competitive season across the board, which is evident by the fact that every participating association bar one have at least one team participating in this week’s finals.

For those who are interested in seeing some of Victoria’s best junior talent on display, the Junior Pennant finals will be played this Sunday morning (20 November) at various venues around metropolitan Melbourne. Contact us on 8420 8420 for location details.

Talent Development Camp

Tennis Victoria in conjunction with Tennis Australia held a Talent Development Camp over the weekend at Ballarat Regional Tennis Centre. Players 13/u were invited by Tennis Victoria to take part in the two day camp, which featured both on court workshops run by a variety of Tennis Australia coaches and information sessions for parents.

Australian Tennis Magazine AMT Platinum #1

The first of two Platinum Australian Money Tournaments held in November concluded last Friday at Melbourne Park with Victorians featuring heavily amongst the winners. Apart from New Zealander Michael Venus taking out the men’s singles title, all the other events were secured by Victorian players. Alenka Hubacek won the women’s title after her opponent withdrew, whilst Tammi Patterson and Viktorija Rajicic took out the No.1 seeds from Great Britain in the women’s doubles final. On the men’s side, James Sheppard and Jimmy Dougherty won their doubles final in a tough three set encounter.

The next AMT Platinum tournament begins tonight and will conclude on Friday at Melbourne Park.
