Sally Peers, Viktorija Rajicic and James Lemke are among the players who will take to the courts tomorrow when the National Tennis League – Victorian Division (NTL-Vic) kicks off tomorrow.

A pilot competition, the NTL-Vic will consist of four men’s and four women’s teams with four players per team. There can be a maximum of six players per team nominated for each tie.

Australian Fed Cup team member Sally Peers said she is looking forward to representing Kooyong in the NTL-Vic.

“I enjoy playing team tennis for Kooyong and it will be interesting to trial the different format,” said Peers.

“I’m really looking forward to playing in the pilot competition. After winning the recent Premier League competition for Kooyong, the girls are keen for another title.”

Ties will consist of four singles and two doubles matches. The match formats will be an eight game ‘pro’ set or the best of two sets – the first to four games each set, with a third set tiebreaker if required.

The 2011 pilot NTL-Vic will consist of three rounds plus a final (1 v 2). The dates are:

• Round 1 – Tuesday 29 November, 2011
• Round 2 – Thursday 1 December, 2011 
• Round 3 – Wednesday 7 December, 2011
• Final – Friday 9 December, 2011 at Melbourne Park

The two teams from NTL-Vic final held in December, will also go on to represent Victoria in a National Championships event to be held during the second week of Australian Open 2012 at Melbourne Park.
