The Victorian team for the 2012 Bruce Cup has been announced, with seven boys and seven girls picked for the annual teams competition.
The players were chosen after winning through the knock-out trial tournament held from 5-7 June by School Sport Victoria (SSV) at the Pakenham Regional Tennis Centre.
Tennis Victoria congratulates the following players who have been selected to represent Victoria in the 2012 Victorian Bruce Cup team:
Boys
- Cody Gunn (Hillcrest Christian School)
- Connor DiMarco (Yarrambat Primary School)
- Jack Clements (Inverloch Primary School)
- Marcus Bulmuga (Sandringham College)
- Mason Naumovski (Kensington Primary School)
- Stefan Milenkovic (Yarraville West Primary School)
- Emmanuel Kifle (Westbourne Grammar)
Girls
- Gabriella Ruffles (Haileybury College)
- Peta Valos (Maribyrnong College)
- Jasmin Starr (Box Hill Senior Secondary College)
- Taylah Mielczarek (St John’s Lutheran School)
- Jessica Zaviacic (Firbank Grammar)
- Natasha Ilic (Ascot Vale West Primary School)
- Kirsten Waters (Glen Katherine Primary School)
The Bruce Cup is conducted by School Sports Australia in partnership with Tennis Australia and will be held in Perth, WA from 13-20 October.
“The Bruce Cup is a great opportunity for players to represent Victoria in a team environment,” said Emily Rae, Tennis Victoria’s Player Development Coordinator, who attended the SSV trial tournament.
“Many of the players selected are part of Tennis Victoria’s Future Stars Program and I look forward to helping their preparation for the national event in October. Victoria has finished runner-up to Queensland for the past four years in a row and will be looking to go one better this year.”
