Victorias Anastasia Rodionova and Jarmila Gajdosova will be part of the Australian tennis team looking to bring home a medal when the London 2012 Olympics start on Saturday morning AEST.

They join fellow Aussie representatives Lleyton Hewitt, Bernard Tomic, Sam Stosur and Casey Dellacqua all looking to add to the Australian collection of one gold, one silver and four bronze medals.

Rodionova and Gajdosova will compete together in the ladies doubles events, while Hewitt, Tomic and Stosur will play their respective singles events, with Stosur teaming up with Dellacqua for the ladies doubles.

The pairing of Rodionova and Gajdosova are no stranger to a doubles court, they are ranked 26 and 34 respectively. They also teamed up for the French Open this year, where they made a run to the quarterfinals.

Between them, they have five career doubles titles, and will be a formidable team when the competition begins.

They have a tough first round match-up against the sixth seeds Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina from Russia and will need to be on their game to progress to the second round.

Bernard Tomic will face No.15 seed Kei Nishikori first up, while Lleyton Hewitt will play fellow qualifier Sergiy Stakhovsky.  On the women’s side, Stosur plays Spain’s Carloa Suarez Navarro, and then teams up with Casey Dellacqua to face the People’s Republic of China pairing of Shuai Peng and Jie Zheng.

Channel 9 will broadcast the London 2012 Olympics live from Saturday 28 July.
