With the start of the Asia-Pacific Tennis League (ATL) fast approaching, Tennis Victoria is excited to announce a new individual player points scoring system.

All players involved in the Victorian Conference will have their results tracked and points awarded for every rubber they play from the moment the first ball is served on 11 November.

“This new innovation will provide players and tennis enthusiasts with a real off-court experience to increase the spectacle of the ATL,” said Jeff Downes, Tennis Victoria’s Competitions Manager.

“Players are awarded points based on the number of sets and games they win and at the end of the competition, the highest scoring player from each of the men’s and women’s competitions will be awarded the Star Performance Award.

“In addition to this, the top four male and female players will also be announced as the Star Performance Squad and will be presented with an award at the Super Sunday round five fixture at Doveton Tennis Club,” added Downes.

You can view the Star Performance Award fact sheet for full scoring details and further information.

Tennis Victoria will update each player’s points on a weekly basis, ensuring spectators and players can stay up to date with every result.

“This is another initiative we [Tennis Victoria] are introducing to help make the ATL the best teams’ competition in Australia. We already have the best players in Victoria participating and this scoring system will help boost the interest in the conference throughout the Victorian tennis community,” said Downes.

Some of the best players in Victoria will compete in the Victorian Conference, including the current world-record holder for the fastest serve in the world Sam Groth on the men’s side and current world No.337 Sally Peers on the women’s side.
