The 2012 TCAV Awards night was held this year at the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club on Sunday 18 November 2012.

Over 50 guests were in attendance to congratulate the winners of this years’ awards and to hear some fabulous stories from their time in tennis.

Winners on the night were:

Robert Peterson – Life Member

Robert has served on the TCAV Board for 14 consecutive years and is only the 5th Life Member of TCAV.  Robert has looked after the business affairs, constitution, financials, membership and tournaments during his time with TCAV.  Also a passionate club professional coach involved at Heathmont Tennis Club, Robert also won the TCAV Club Coach Award in 2002.

Colin Davis  – Hall of Fame

Colin was inducted into the TCAV Hall of Fame after serving on the TCAV Board for 6 years as well as being a course presenter and examiner for 8 years.  Colin has been the Head Coach at Royal South Yarra Tennis Club, Blackburn South Tennis Club, Brighton Grammer and Loreto Madeville Hall while currently holding the position of President of the Grace Park Tennis Club.

Warren Maher – George Gilmore Memorial Club Coach / Facility Award.

As well as excelling in the tennis coaching area, Warren was also ranked No.1 in Victoria, played for his State and Country and competed in all four Grand Slam tournaments.

Warren is currently the Director of the Boorandara Tennis Centre where he is responsible for the 40 employed staff, advertising, sponsorships, program promotion as well as having an active coaching role.  Warren has been a tournament director for over 250 events at Boorandara as well as embracing Cardio Tennis, school coaching programs and being Team Manager of various State and National teams.

Danielle Borle – TCAV Rising Star Award (Coaches 30yrs and under)

Danielle is a Development Coach currently undertaking the Club Professional coaching course.  Danielle has already made an amazing commitment to tennis coaching.  Danielle has coached in the western suburbs for 10 years and has already encouraged over 1500 children to take up the sport of tennis and has been instrumental in increasing membership at her clubs.

Chris Fidler – TCAV Rookie of the Year Award (Assistant Coaches 25yrs and Under)

Chris has been a reliable and passionate coach for Julie Fidler for 9 years.  Chris leads by example by always being reliable, happy and helpful and is proactive with new ideas and lesson plans.  His enthusiasm on court is contagious and inspiring for those he is coaching.  Chris completed his Club Professional Coaching Certificate in 2010 and has been a TCAV member for 6 years.  Chris has also taken o the volunteer role of Treasurer at Victory Park Tennis Club for the third year to ensure the clubs survival and was instrumental in preparing the application for lighting all four courts.

Also on the night, Nick Ritchie and Cooper White were both awarded new 12 month junior sponsorships from Technifibre / Pro-Kennex.  Coached by Colin Price and Jason Lindeman respectively, Nick and Cooper were also jointed by Matthew Larsden, coached by Robert Peterson, whose sponsorship was renewed for a further 12 months.
