3 January 2013 | Tennis Victoria
The Tennis Victoria 57th Inter-regional Country Championships will take place this weekend at Swan Hill Lawn Tennis Club. Running from 4 – 6 January 2013 the Northern Mallee region will play host to 264 players participating on 32 courts over the 3 days of competition.
This is the first time in 28 years that Swan Hill Lawn Tennis Club has hosted the event in what is sure to be a great success.
Having won their 21st inter-regional title last year, and fourth in a row, the Barwon region will be looking to add the 2013 championship to their already extensive list of titles.
The 2013 Inter-regional Country Championships also sees the introduction of the 22/u section with men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles all being introduced in the 22/u age category.
In true Victorian fashion last year’s tournament was nearly completely washed out. This year however the forecast suggests that we are in for a hot weekend with temperatures in the 40 degree range predicted so a heat policy for this event will be in place.
Good luck to all regions and players.
