The 12/u Clay Court Nationals were recently held in Ipswich with a number of Victorian juniors having a very successful week.

The boys singles final was an all Victorian affair with the no.16 seed Matthew Dellavedova (Wonga Park) and son of coach Peter Dellavedova defeating Connor Di Marco (Mill Park) 7-6 6-1.  Codey Gunn finished third to complete an all Victorian top 3.

Play off and doubles matches outside of the main draw singles finals were reduced to first to 8 game Pro sets due to the entire Saturday schedule being cancelled due to torrential rain.

In the shortened boys doubles final, Connor Di Marco and his partner Stefan Norodom were runners up, losing the final in a nail biter to Oliver Douglas (South Australia) and Dane Sweeney (Queensland) 8-7.

On the girls side, Victorian Jessica Zaviacic was plagued by knee and ankle injuries during her final which saw her go down to NSW’s Gabriela Da Silva-Fick 6-3 6-0. She was able to rally and partner with Gabriela to take out the doubles title 8-2.

From the younger Future Stars players that participated throughout the week, results of note included Mary Jayakody qualifying for her first Main Draw as did 10 year old Enzo Aguiard. Stefan Storch and Thomas Pavlekovic-Smith continued their qualifying success from Mildura, again making it through to the main draw.

In 14s Jaimee Fourlis took out the girls singles title in very convincing fashion defeating Petra Hule (South Australia) 6-1 6-3.  Fourlis dominated the even dropping only 17 games for the week!  She completed the double taking out the doubles title a few hours later with her partner Aleksa Cveticanin (Queensland) 6-1 6-3.

Lucas Vuradin was the runner up in the boys singles in an up and down finl losing to Mayez Elrich (New South Wales) 0-6 6-3 3-6.
