Going in to this weekend in 5th position the Dingley Dingoes have stormed from behind to claim a place in the 1v2 final of the ATL Vic Conference. Winning their Round 4 match yesterday, 6 rubbers to 0, over the RSY Royals they were also too strong today over the Waverley Warriors winning 4-2. The Dingoes will meet the undefeated Kooyong Classics in the 1v2 final in the Men’s draw.
The final round of the ATL Vic Conference was played today at the Royal South Yarra Lawn Tennis Club where the home sides had a good day on court. Presented with their host licence by former World Number 4, Jelena Dokic, the Women’s Royals’ team had a win over the Delahey Reckers cementing them a place in the 1v2 final while the men won two of their rubbers against the favoured Tennis World Taipans. The RSY Royals who were joined today by Storm Sanders will meet the undefeated Kooyong Classics in the Women’s 1 v 2 final.
The finals of the ATL Vic Conference will be played next Saturday 30 November at the National Tennis Centre from 2pm. The 1v2 finals will decide the Vic Conference winners and will take home $6000 in prize money while the runners up will take home $3000. There will be a 3v4 final with the winner taking home $1000 in prize money.
The final of the ATL Vic Conference will also support the Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation. All players, ballkids and officials will proudly wear the rainbow Shoelaces synonymous with the Foundation.
