The Kooyong Classics and the RSY Royals are the new ATL Vic Conference Champions!

A 20 day storm of new age tennis in the 2013 ATL Vic Conference has concluded with a sensational finals day held at the state of the art National Tennis Centre.

A fantastic crowd was in attendance to see some brilliant hard fought tennis. In the Men’s Final the Kooyong Classics were too strong for the Dingley Dingoes. Playing to a result, the Classics won the first three rubbers and the first set of the fourth rubber giving them the win.

The Women’s final was the nail biter of the day going down to the final rubber. Level with 2 rubbers all and equal on sets going into the doubles, the Royals’ doubles pairing of Storm Sanders and Samantha Harris was too strong for Sally Peers and Kate Antosik of the Kooyong Classics winning 4-0, 4-0.  It came down to the Royals’ Tammi Patterson and Azra Hadzic up against Kooyong’s Arina Rodionova and Ellen Perez. Rodionova and Perez took the rubber 4-3, 4-1 equaling the rubbers won and sets won by both teams. The winner was determined on games won leaving the RSY Royals as the victors winning 41 games to 38.

The Kooyong Classic’s Mens and RSY Royals Womens teams will now go through to the ATL Playoffs from 20-21 January 2014 during the 2014 Australian Open.

In the 3v4 playoffs the Waverley Warriors were too strong for the Tennis World Taipans in the Men’s conference while the MCC Stars defeated the Delahey Reckers to take home the third place $1000 cheque.

The ATL Vic Conference finals were also proud to support Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation with all players, ball kids, and officials proudly wearing the rainbow coloured Shoelaces representative of the Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation.
